I had a dilemma and I needed a solution. We moved into our new house and the living room had a media cabinet with solid doors that housed our cable box, DVD player and sound system. In order for the regular remotes to work the doors of the cabinet needed to be open and your needed to be at the perfect angle so the doors wouldn’t block the remotes signal that operated the devices. I didn’t like either scenario and wanted a solution, so, I took to the internet and researched my options to solve my problem. The best solution I found was a universal remote that could control ALL of my devices even when the cabinet doors were closed. It was amazing!
The Logitech Harmony Smart Control was the best solution. It was very well priced compared to other universal remotes I found, it had a great design and a smartphone app was included so I could control the devices from my smartphone. I was SOLD! The main feature that I was originally looking for was the IR technology which allows the remote to communicate with the devices without being pointed directly at the sensors.
The setup of the remote was quite easy. I used my laptop to create an account and logged in to add all of my devices which were conveniently stored in the database of devices making it a breeze. All I had to do was pull the model number from the device and that was it. I had this new remote working within 10 minutes. I also download the app that was included and now I can control my TV from my smart phone which is probably the best thing in the world.
The design of the remote is sleek and minimal and it does not weigh much and fits in your hand well. It beats having the big bulky remote that came with my cable box. Major upgrade from that. All the buttons on the remote can be customized to function exactly how you want them to. For instance if I wanted the button with the red dash control the page up/page down feature in the cable guide I can have it do that by just logging in and changing that setting.
In conclusion, I am very happy with my purchase of the Logitech Harmony Smart Control and would highly recommend it to anyone in need of universal remote. Especially one where your devices are located out of sight or in another room. I loved the price and found it to be the best value on the market for what you get out of it.
